Tests for parents

Would you like to enrol your child at a Dutch-speaking school or nursery? You will be given priority if you speak a certain level of Dutch.

How does it work?

  • You will take the test with one of our consultants. This is possible online or at the Dutch Language House Brussels
  • The test is taken orally and lasts 30 minutes.
  • The test consists of 2 parts: In the first part only you will speak; the second part is a dialogue with the consultant from the Dutch Language House Brussels.
  • You will be given a topic to talk about. The topics are real-life situations at a school or nursery. You will be given a short time to prepare this.
  • You will receive the results of the test within 7 days. If the result is satisfactory, you will receive a certificate to prioritise your child's enrolment in the school or nursery. If you did not reach the required level, you may repeat the test after 6 months.

What level do you need to achieve?

  • Enrolling in a nursery: a certificate for level B1 oral
  • Enrolling in kindergarten, primary school or in secondary education: a certificate for level B2 oral.
